A warm invitation to join us as we gather to dance and drum and meditate - celebrating the autumn Equinox.
In a time of balance between day and night, we will explore the creative energies of life and their dynamic interplay. Dancing with these forces, we enter a embodied enquiry into our capacity to co-create with life, effect change and restore balance within and without. A healing space - opening ourselves to inner guidance and creative possibilities. An opportunity to dedicate our dance, our drumming and the closing water blessing to the wellbeing and harmony of all of life on Earth.
For this special event Mira Khanya, Laura Valenti and Thomas Petodeepen their friendship and build on previous collaborations as they weave together their experience and skills in movement, sound healing and collective presence.
MOVEMENT MEDICINE with Mira Khanya
Movement Medicine is a practice which directs our awareness to our movement, thoughts and feelings, supporting us to get more in touch with who we really are. It is an active and embodied meditation practice, opening the way to deep internal reflection. Through the dance we are invited on a journey of personal empowerment, relationship with community and connection with the creative, universal life force. Mira Khanya's background as a therapist, artist and dancer, along with her studies in Butoh, Physical Theatre, Contact Improvisation and Meditation, supports her teaching.
DRUM CIRCLE with Laura Valenti
Movement Medicine teacher and Sound Therapist - Laura Valenti - has worked extensively in UK, California, Ecuador, Guatemala, Peru with many different groups and indigenous communities and draws in her work elements coming from the Andean tradition. She will guide us in a drum circle - an invitation to connect to the beat of the drum and to the rhythm of our hearts as we strengthen our connection to ourselves and each other. This ancient tradition is a powerful experience of being fully present and grounded in the body while simultaneously entering an expanded state of heightened awareness.

Thomas specialises in personal transformative experiences. His background is in meditation, shamanism, dance, martial arts and the study of the psyche. "Mira has an intuitive understanding of movement and transformational process. She creates a safe, sacred space in which to connect deeply with your own body's wisdom. I have often surprised myself with the energy and insights I've accessed under her attuned guidance. Resistance and inhibitions melt away and I am transported by the evocative music to a place within where I can dance with all my being." - Kate, Integrative Arts Psychotherapist
"I would like to just say thank you for the wonderful session Laura. I have learnt a lot of new things. The women who attended the session mentioned that they felt different, more relaxed and that they have learnt how to be aware of themselves and how to like and accept themselves more. As women we always care for others but when it comes the time to take care of ourselves, we often don't know how to do it and we ignore and dismiss our own feelings and well-being. This session gave us the awareness that we have to learn how to love ourselves and then love others, since this is has to be in balance”.
- Zahide Eski, Supporting People Advice Officer
"I was deeply moved by the quality of stillness and inner journeying that Tom has brought onto the dance floor. To be able drop so deeply within, to then expand further into space and connection with self and others is a powerful and unique experience” - Dom Spiral, inSpiral & Heartwave dance facilitator
